SPYWAREIs your computer been running slower than normal? Are you worried someone may be able to access your computer and steal your private information and use it against you? If so, these are feelings I have shared with you in the past. Some time back, my 3-year old computer was running so slow that I had to buy a new computer. Or at least I thought I needed a new computer. Then within a matter of weeks of surfing on the Internet, my new computer was also running so slowly.

In addition, some programs did not run well on my computer, and I did not recognize some of the programs that were running on my computer. That scared me most. Were these programs that were tracking my keystrokes on my computer or programs I just not remember installing? I knew I had to find a answer and solution fast. The truth is, we can all put up with a slow computer, but very few of us would want others to have access to the information on our computers, but that is exactly what can happen when spyware or malware is loaded on our computers without our knowledge.

According to Spyware Nuker’s web site, “Spyware applications are programs and files that hide on your PC’s hard drive without your direct knowledge. These programs allow hackers and advertising companies to track your every move, both online and even when you work offline. They can track the websites you visit, the items that you buy online, the emails you send and receive, your Instant Message dialog, and worst of all they can even record your credit card number, personal identification numbers, and all of your passwords. If you use dial-up to connect to the Internet then spyware can be used to bill 900 numbers to your phone bill. This is just a short list of the harm that spyware can cause.” The web site also provides statistics that show spyware is a huge problem effecting many people. “

SPYWARE

Spyware and adware belong to a group of malicious software called malware, which can be disruptive, invasive, and potentially damaging to your computer. Spyware and adware secretly monitor your online surfing and shopping habits or collect your personal and confidential information and report it back to the intruder, who stands to profit in some way from the data that’s collected.

You can pick up these annoying and potentially threatening programs unknowingly when you download online music, install free software that has malware bundled with it, or accept a product’s End User License Agreement without reading the fine print.

3 million Americans have been victims of identity theft in the last five years, including

9.91 million people or

4.6% of the population in the last year alone.”In addition, it is very easy for your computer to become infected with spyware as “The majority of all downloadable games, music, screensavers, etc., can infect your computer with SpyWare or AdWare. Most people do not know that after simply clicking on a random “pop up” ad, their computers may have been infected with SpyWare or AdWare.

“No matter how we get spyware, here are 10 very real reasons you don’t want spyware on your computer.

1. Your computer may start running slower

2. Some programs on your computer will not run correctly

3. You may not recognize programs that are now on your computer because they may have been installed there by a spyware related web site or program you loaded on your computer. In addition, you might be worried that:

4. Someone might be able to read your e-mails

5. Someone might be able to access your e-mail list

6. Someone might be able to see you track the keystrokes you type

7. Someone might be able to access your credit card information on your pc

8. Someone might be able to access your passwords list on your computer

9. Someone might be able to steal your social security number

10. Someone might be able to track all the web sites you visit As I mentioned, most of these programs get on your computer with out you even knowing, but another frustrating part is I recognized a few of these programs because I remember installing AND uninstalling them! So now I know that when we install some of these handy little utilities to track passwords online or programs to help with e-mail or keep track of the weather, even if we uninstall them, they may not be gone from our computers. They are still in our computers, waiting to spy on us, at the least. A great way to find and remove spyware is to run a spyware detector and remover. Most spyware detection and removal software today offers a free scan to verify that you do or do not have spyware on your computer.

Learn 10 essential SEO tips and tricks for getting a higher search engine ranking.
Searching
Search results under magnifying glassSearch engine optimisation (SEO) is a vast topic. There are whole websites and books out there devoted to the subject. The world of SEO is also constantly changing as search engines tweak their algorithms, and new search engines come and go.

However, there are some timeless SEO techniques that will always come in useful. Here are 10 top SEO tips that you can use to improve your website’s ranking on the search engines.

If you’re new to search engine optimization, check out SEO for Beginners first.
1. Write good content

This is maybe the most important strategy of all. If your pages contain good, relevant, useful content, search engines will be more likely to rank your page higher for relevant searches. As an added benefit, good content will encourage more sites to link to your pages, thereby further increasing your search engine ranking.

It’s also good to update your content regularly. Visitors like fresh content, so they will visit your site more often. More visits lead to more links to your content, which ultimately results in more traffic.
2. Do your keyword research

Don’t target a keyphrase just because it sounds right to you, or because it gets a lot of searches.

Think about what you ultimately want visitors to do on your site (your conversion goals), then find out what keywords people search for when they want to achieve those goals. Use tools such as Google Analytics to see which keyphrases result in the most goal conversions.

Stay away from 1-word (or possibly even 2-word) keyphrases that have thousands of competitive sites in the search results. Instead, use tools such as Wordtracker and the AdWords Keyword Suggestion tool to find relevant niche keyphrases with high search volume and low competition.

For example, if your online store sells Mega Widgets in the Boston area, target the keyphrase “mega widgets boston”, rather than just “widgets”.
3. Use your keywords wisely

Once you have a good list of keyphrases, deploy them sensibly throughout your site pages. Make sure you’ve used your keywords in the following text blocks (these are in rough order of importance, most important first):

* The title tag
* The h1 and h2 headings in the page
* Link text (in links within the page, and in links from other pages)
* The page URL
* Image alt text
* Bold and italicised text

Also make sure your keywords have a reasonable density (i.e. they appear fairly often in the above text blocks — but not too often) and prominence (place them near the start of each text block).

Make sure you use text rather than images in the page where possible. This is particularly true of navigation menus. If you must use an image, make sure it has keyword-rich alt text.
4. Get other sites linking to yours

Most search engines rank sites more highly if they’re linked to by other, well-respected sites.

The key here is “well-respected”. Just getting linked to from hundreds of reciprocal link pages is not going to do much for your ranking. Target a few relevant, good-quality sites and directories that are full of useful info and rank well on the search engines, and try to get a link back from them.

Some link directories let you submit your site for free, while others require a fee — either one-off, or recurring. While paying for submission can be expensive, it can be worth it, especially if you’re running an online store that has a lot of competitors.

Getting links from other high-quality sites can be a challenge. Here are some tips:

* Writing good content (see strategy #1) is one of the best long-term strategies for encouraging inbound links.
* A “link to this page” function on each page of your site makes it easy for other webmasters and bloggers to link.
* Get in touch with the site owner and strike up a friendship. You’re much more likely to get a link back from someone who knows you.
* If the site in question has useful content relevant to your readers, go ahead and link to that site from your own pages. This in itself might encourage a link back!

5. Structure your site for SEO

Your site structure can play an important part in optimizing your pages. Make sure your pages contain plenty of links to other important pages in your site, and that it’s easy to get to all sections of your site via your homepage or navigation menu.

Not only does this make it easier for visitors and search engines to find your content, but it also helps to spread your site’s authority score (such as Google PageRank) more evenly throughout your site pages.

A sitemap can really help here, as it lists all your site content on one, easy-to-use page — great for visitors and search engine spiders alike.
6. Analyse your site

It’s important to track your site’s SEO performance so that you can see if your efforts are paying off. Make use of the many free analysis tools out there, including:

* Yahoo! Site Explorer — Lets you find out detailed search-engine-related info on each page of your site, including the most popular pages and the inbound links to each page.
* Google Webmaster Tools — Gives you all sorts of details about how Google sees your site, such as problems crawling your pages and suggestions for how to improve your HTML.
* Google Analytics — Reports on vital traffic data such as visitors, pageviews, traffic sources, keywords, and lots more. Also lets you set up goals so you can see how well your SEO campaigns are performing.
* SEO Book and SEO Chat — these 2 sites offer a large range of free, Web-based SEO tools, many of which give you useful information about how your site is faring in the search results.

SEO RANKING7. Keep abreast of the latest SEO news

Search engine algorithms change constantly, and it pays to keep up to date with the latest changes and SEO strategies. The following SEO sites are well worth bookmarking or subscribing to:

* Search Engine Watch is a huge SEO resource, including articles and white papers on SEO and SEM (search engine marketing), as well as some busy SEO forums.
* Matt Cutts’ blog — Matt is a Google engineer, and in his blog he frequently discusses the latest changes at Google that can affect SEO.
* Sphinn is a social bookmarking site for SEO topics. Great for finding out what’s new and hot in the world of SEO.
* SEO Book features a comprehensive, paid SEO training program, a regularly-updated blog, and some handy free SEO tools such as keyword suggesters and rank checkers.
* SEO Chat contains a large number of SEO articles, a huge range of free online SEO tools, and a big forum community.

8. Avoid black hat techniques

SEO techniques come in 2 forms:

* White hat techniques play by the rules of the search engines, and aim to create high-quality, relevant content.
* Black hat techniques attempt to “game” the search engines by using techniques such as keyword stuffing (overusing keywords in a page), hidden text, and cloaking (presenting different versions of a page to real visitors and search engines).

Black hat SEO techniques can sometimes produce a short-term hike in traffic; however such sites invariably get weeded out — or, worse, banned altogether — by the search engines. Black hat SEO simply isn’t worth the risk if you want to build a long-term stream of traffic from search engines.
9. Watch out for duplicate content

Search engines dislike pages that basically contain the same content, and will give such pages a lower ranking. Therefore, avoid duplicate content URLs on your site.

Many factors can result in a search engine seeing 2 URLs as duplicates of each other — for example:

* Articles republished from other websites
* Print-friendly versions of pages (make sure you exclude such pages from search engines with a robots.txt file)
* Similar product info pages that contain very little changing content apart from the product name and image
* Session IDs in URLs, or other URL parameters that result in different URLs for the same page
* Displaying your site at multiple domains — for example, www.example.com and example.com. Choose one domain or the other, then use 301 redirects to ensure that everyone (including search engines) is looking at just the one domain.

10. Don’t forget the description and keywords tags

Many webmasters overlook the description and keywords meta tags, but they can give your site the edge over your competitors. Pay attention to these 2 tags in each page.

* The description tag should be a useful, compelling summary of your page content. This tag is often used to display a summary of your page in the search results, so it’s worth making it keyword-rich and including a call to action.
* Most search engines ignore the keywords tag these days; however it doesn’t hurt to create one (if nothing else it’s another chance to insert your keywords in the page). Some directories also use the keywords tag to classify sites.
* Ensure that each page has unique description and keywords tags. If a search engine finds many pages with the same description and keywords, it can see those pages as less important.

Make sure your description and keywords tags aren’t too long — they should be 1 or 2 lines of text.

SEO is always a bit of a guessing game, with search engines changing their ranking algorithms constantly, but these 10 tips and techniques should be useful in any SEO situation. Good luck!

Open Directory Project (OPD) is free, and yes, you can submit much more quickly. But the problem is there’s no guarantee that your site will be listed. I’ve seen sites get into the Open Directory Project within a week or two of submission, and I’ve seen others that waited months without ever getting in. In addition, the submission forms sometimes don’t seem to work! But don’t give up. As i mentioned earlier on that, the Open Directory Project is very important. Here’s how to submit:

1. Read the editor’s guidelines at dmoz.org/guidelines/describing. html. If you know what guidelines the editors use, you may be able to avoid problems. It’s hard to get into the directory, so you might as well give yourself the best chance of getting in.

2. Go to www.dmoz.org. The Open Directory Project home page appears. Additional information is that they are not Search engine and they are highly very selective.

3. Find a suitable category for your site.

4. Click the Suggest URL link at the top of the page.

5. Follow the (fairly simple) directions. Submitting to the Open Directory Project is much easier than doing so to Yahoo! Directory. You simply enter your home page’s URL, a short title, a 25-30- word description for the site, and your e-mail address. That’s it. Then you wait.

But understand that the editors at DMOZ don’t care about your site, they care about the directory; in fact, read the DMOZ forums at www.resource-zone. com and you’ll find that the attitude tends to be “tells us about your site, then go away and forget about it.” There are all sorts of factors working against you:

- There are 8,000 editors managing over 700,000 categories.

- Many small directories may only be reviewed by an editor every six months . . . or far less frequently.

The editors regard a six-month wait, or longer, not particularly excessive.

- In some cases editors may even ignore submissions. As one editor explained, “there is no obligation to review them in any order nor is there a requirement to review them as a priority . . . some editors find it more productive to seek out sites on their own and rarely visit the suggested sites.”

You should take a few moments to understand these policies and the steps to submit a site before you begin.  Failure to understand and follow these instructions generally will result in the rejection of a submission.

India has come up with the world’s cheapest “laptop,” a touch-screen computing device that costs $35.

India’s Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal this week unveiled the low-cost computing device that is designed for students, saying his department had started talks with global manufacturers to start mass production.

“We have reached a (developmental) stage that today, the motherboard, its chip, the processing, connectivity, all of them cumulatively cost around $35, including memory, display, everything,” he told a news conference.

He said the touchscreen gadget was packed with Internet browsers, PDF reader and video conferencing facilities but its hardware was created with sufficient flexibility to incorporate new components according to user requirement.

Sibal said the Linux based computing device was expected to be introduced to higher education institutions from 2011 but the aim was to drop the price further to $20 and ultimately to $10.

Lines are very significant in order to increase the impact of the images. The use of lines are very powerful method of improving the composition of photos. With the correct use of this technique i assure you every details on your photo will be noticed.

Lines serve to affect photographic composition in two ways. First, they serve to create a mood. Second, they lead the eye through the photograph. By affecting mood, lines add emotional content to images. By leading the viewer’s eye, they keep the viewer’s attention focused on the image. When dealing with lines, the subject can be broken into the following types:

  • Horizontal
  • Vertical
  • Diagonal
  • Jagged and irregular
Mood: Horizontal

Horizontal lines tend to indicate a sense of homeostasis (lack of change). This use in an image often projects a feeling that an image, or part of one, is somehow frozen at a point in time. Horizontal lines should be used when a photographer wants to impart a sentiment of timelessness or lack of change to an image. In addition, they can serve to provide a contrast with more dynamic parts of an image. Examples can be found in buildings, horizons, and fallen objects (e.g. trees).

Mood: Vertical

Vertical lines can project either a mood of stability or peace. When projecting a mood of stability, they often function similarly to horizontal lines. This can convey an implication of substance or permanence. Examples of vertical lines used to impart a mood of stability can be found in rock formations, power line poles, and vertical lines of buildings.

Proper use of vertical lines can also impart an impression of peace and tranquility. Examples of this use are trees in a fog shrouded forest, old fence posts on an isolated prairie, and a figure on a secluded beach in the early morning.

Mood: Diagonal

Diagonal lines can convey a sense of action or make an image more dynamic. For this reason, diagonals are a very powerful tool. Their power resides in their ability to grab the attention of the viewer. The viewer’s eyes tend to travel back and forth along diagonals. Diagonal lines can be formed, not only of objects such as streets or sidewalks, but also of color. For instance, a diagonal section of color can add drama to a flower image. Examples of diagonals are plentiful: roads, streams, waves, and branches are but a few examples of objects that can be utilized in a diagonal manner.

Mood: Jagged and Irregular

Jagged and irregular lines take us one step further on the continuum of emotion and feeling. While diagonals move us into the area of the dynamic, jagged and irregular lines often impart a sense of unease, tension, or fear to the viewer of the image. Heavy use of jagged and irregular lines can cause a negative feeling in the viewer (which may be exactly what the photographer intended). Therefore, they are the tools of choice for the photographer who wants to create a feeling of disquiet or agitation in the viewer. Examples can be found in roots, a crocodile’s teeth, stark mountain peaks, and the twisted metal of an automobile wreck.

Leading the Eye

As powerful as lines are in helping to create a mood in an image, they become even more powerful when they are also used to direct the viewer’s attention. When using lines to direct the viewer’s attention, two rules need to be followed. First, make sure that the lines always point toward the most important object in the image. This will direct the viewer’s attention directly to that object. Second, make sure that the lines never point outside of the image. Lines that point outside the image will make the viewer’s eye leave the image. This weakens the image and may result in the viewer losing interest in the image entirely.
